The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards are all set to be held on August 27, 2017 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Big artists like Lorde, Ed Sheeran, The Weekend, and Miley Cyrus are all set to perform at the extravaganza, which is a must see!  Other performers include Fifth Ceremony, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Shawn Mendes.

This year’s Award ceremony will be hosted by none other than Katy Perry, who will also perform on stage with some of the celebrities attending.

As earlier reported, this year’s ceremony has something new to offer.   The ceremony marks the first time MTV has eradicated gender-specific categories combining the Best Female and Male Video Awards into Artist of the year. The 2017 VMAs will also debut a new category, which is Best Fight against the System. There’s a slight change in categories, following the same path as the refurbished MTV Movie & TV Awards, where the award goes to the Best Actor in a show. On the other hand, the male and female categories are combined for Best Movie Actor; Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown and Beauty and the Beast‘s Emma Watson winning these awards.

MTV President Chris McCarthy has stated that even the iconic Moon Man trophy is getting a makeover at this year’s VMAs; the updated award will now be referred to as “Moon Person.”  “Why should it be a man?” While talking to the New York Times, McCarthy said “It could be a man, it could be a woman, it could be transgender, and it could be nonconformist.”
