Legendary producer Timbaland has opened up about his struggles with addiction, disclosing he nearly suffered a near-death overdose.

“The music we just made? It’s gonna put him on another plateau.”

Timbaland revealed a private struggle with pill addiction that the singer says that it almost cost him his career and maybe even his life.

“I was on drugs, dude,”

He told the interviewer that he got hooked on OxyContin while treating nerve damage from a teenage injury from a gunshot wound. He says further that the problem was stayed by a lack of the charts success.

The singer further said,

“Once you’re not popping, it plays with your mind. The pills helped block out the noise — I’d just sleep all day. I remember JAY-Z told me one time, ‘Don’t do no more interviews’ — because I was saying crazy shit.”

His girlfriend, Michelle, told Rolling Stone that,

“It was so bad, to the point where I couldn’t even sleep…I’d put my hand right by his nose, just to see if he was still breathing.
Timbaland also revealed in the piece that he’s finished work on a new record from Justin Timberlake, saying the music is “gonna put [Justin] on another plateau.”

We’re so psyched about his comeback and can’t wait to hear the music he created!
